Week 28

I will rise, when He calls my name; no more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise, on eagle's wings; before my God fall on my knees - and ri-ise I will ri-ise!

  1. always spill over with thankfulness -- wow, love the way that is worded; now if I can just live in that emotion!

I liked the way 3:14 said what was nailed to the cross: the massive debt we incurred by the law -- hmmm, that's a whole different spin than the law being nailed to the cross.

"The core, the import, is found in the Anointed One - not foods, not celebrations, not days -- really, they all point to HIM! Yet, I think it's important for each individual to be convinced in their own minds what He asks of them - - the one message we need to give to the world is to spend time in the presence of Him

  2. So important to put God at the head of everything. To acknowledge His true power. Enjoyed and needed the reminder that there's a ton of false thinking and it's sneaky and insidious. Sounds plausible but it's garbage (2:4).

Such a need to be firm in my foundation built on God, not my own desires or thinking. Then, though it's rejected and made fun of...it just stands. People share their illusionary beliefs and reject truth but it doesn't change Truth.

I see why Jesus didn't commit Himself to men, because He really did know them by His Father's power and discernment. We can as well.

  3. DJ: Worries: your best strategy is to stop focusing on this problem and put your energy into communicating more with Me. This approach will help you achieve freedom from all sorts of negative tendencies, including worry. the idea is to replace hurtful, self-defeating behavior with something more positive -- communicating with your Creator and Savior.

Don't just talk to me; listen to Me as well. I speak to you through My Word, My Spirit, My creation.

  4. Hey, one of the things in JC had a worry link as well.

"You are on the path of My choosing There is no randomness about your life. Here and Now comprise the coordinates of your daily life. Most people let their moments slip through their fingers, half-lived. They avoid the present by worrying about the future or longing for a better time and place...As you give yourself more and more to a life of constant communion with Me, you will find that you simply have no time for worry. Thus, you are freed to let My Spirit direct your steps, enabling you to walk along the path of Peace."

I want to enjoy a day of Peace, listening to the HS in each moment.

  5. I like the word picture of the 'here' and 'now' coordinates:) Maybe God is telling us to release worry and live the abundant life of Peace:)

  6. Yesterday was a lot more fun when I kept referring back to those coordinates. Not much in Kings today except for the beginning with Elisha.
Seems like the true people of God had to live in the Here and Now. And they had no "technology" that encouraged them to worry about the future. They had to talk to God. For all of our advancements, we've digressed in the most important things. Mainly, our reliance on God alone and our communion with Him.
I like Elisha's prayer for His servant to see heavely realities. I pray that I will see the same today and not be content with what humans show me.

  7. Elisha's servant focused on the disaster; Elisha focused on the God who is bigger and mightier than a disaster - - the God of angel armies, is ALWAYS by my side!

I love the compassion Elisha showed to the embarrassed Aram peeps; sweet how the Arameans stopped sending raiding parties into Israel. Sometimes you see the compassion -- sometimes you see God stepping in and war avoided - ike in the next Aramean story of the monstrous noise of a mighty army - - sometimes you see the war, blood and guts - as in Jehu's life. I guess it takes a lot of listening and God-time to understand what the proper response is to life's enemies.

Love how the lepers were generous and didn't keep the good news to themselves. No doubt they had been scorned and abused by the city folk - yet they shared their wealth with them.

I didn't remember the story of the woman being blessed a couple more times by Elisha; when he warned her of the famine, when E's servant paved the way for her to get her land back:)

Can you imagine the stare Elisha gave Hazael; I wonder if it was contempt or compassion that drove that stare.

And -- here the commander asked Jehu what the 'lunatic' said to him. When Jehu told him - all the commanders believed what the 'lunatic' said. Apparently, they didn't really consider the young prophet a 'lunatic' after all. People are so fickly (that includes me)

I always chuckle when I think of the crazy driving of a chariot driver (wonder what he would do today with a ferrari) pretty sad comment though: "After all that Jehu had done, and even after the Lord had honored him, he fell from the higher path, from the ways of the Eternal. His whole heart did not belong to Israel's God" My desire is to give my whole heart to Him; but I will need His help to make that true -- I have the weight of sin pulling me down constantly. In HIS power, all things are possible - if I don't get in the way!

  8. 81:10 says if you open your mouth wide I will fill it. I was thinking of how the HS will give us words to speak if we are willing to be His feet and go where He wants us to and say ONLY what He wants us to. Then the thought accured to me that I also need to open my heart wide for Him to fill. So often, I only want to open in a little ways. Otherwise, you don't know what He could do! Which is exactly the point. I'll never know all He could do for me and through me if I don't open everything WIDE to His Presence.

  9. That is a great thought Chris; nothing spoke to me in Ps today - but DJ was customized for me! 'Prayerfully release your loved ones to Me. Restrain your urges to solve their problems. Instead, use your time and energy to listen to them and pray for them. Trust in My Love and My unsearchable wisdom. I can work changes in your loved ones' lives: beyond anything you might ask or imagine.'

Even tho I am way more calm about the future of my kids - it is still a daily release; opening up my grasp.

  10. oh yes, that is a really good one for a parent. Parents who try to control the lives of their kids always end up sending them down the path they are trying to keep them from. Never fails. Prayer is best because it's out of your control and in the hands of the One who really knows the best thing to do.

I liked Solomon's take on speaking few words. The more I talk, the less I say. Very true.

Also, the line about accepting instruction and being wise or rejecting correction and being the fool and self destructing.

  11. Today's reading is filled with all kinds of warnings about what comes out of the mouth - - I think that is why it is so important to listen to others; you can tell a lot about who they are, what their pain is, what their goals are, what their weaknesses are - simply by listening.

I love 22 "the blessing of the Eternal is what makes someone rich" when we get THAT - it will be obvious where the money comes from - and why God looks for generous people to bless. Also 24 "Whatever wrongdoers fear the most will happen to them, but those who do right will receive what they long for" and I think that longing is for peace and a good night's sleep!

Speaking of peace 27 "Reverence for the Eternal makes for a long and peaceful life" there you go!

  12. DJ 120 "As you affirm your faith in Me, I empower you to wait with positive expectations. Waiting on Me is actually a great privilege, full of promise and blessing. Waiting on royalty has always been considered a high position, because it involves nearness to the royal persons" (WOW - never thought of that before! and am I ever grateful that God empowers me to wait -- I need that in a BIG way! not good at waiting . . .

    ReplyDelete
  13. Who knew that waiting was such an active word? Sort of ties into Luke today where the followers of Jesus are to wait for Him to come by investing themselves in His kingdom.

I so love Jesus' example of this in His encounter with Zacheus. He didn't care what people thought, only His Father. He was constantly about His Father's business, not His own.

That's when I'm truly content and happy, not about me and my agenda - all about My Father and what He wants out of today. Different, peaceful focus.
